Swim Meets
Swim meets provide the opportunity for swimmers to achieve their goals – to race competitively, achieve personal bests, and gain confidence. For many swimmers, this is why they train – and meets can be a huge amount of fun!

Targeted Meets
Each season, our coaches select a number of meets they feel are suitable for each swim squad to ‘target’. The meets are usually at venues across Sydney and occasionally interstate.
Coaches communicate our targeted meets to swimmers and their families using email, social media platforms and our club noticeboards.
Qualifying Meets give swimmers the opportunity to achieve a qualifying time for events held at Area, Metro, State and National championships – most of which requiring a qualifying time for swimmers to gain entry.
Development Meets offer new or younger swimmers the chance to compete against others of a similar level in the local area. Swimmers gain race experience and begin accumulating official times for their favourite events, and are an important part of their competitive swimming journey.
Volunteering at Meets
NBSC relies on the support of our member families to help with running of our own organised meets, and to help at some of the meets our swimmers attend as a club.
At a minimum, this might involve being a timekeeper during the meet. However, some parents choose to take on a technical duty, of which several are needed at every swim meet to ensure they run smoothly.
Technical roles:
Marshal
Inspector of Turns
Judge of Stroke
Starter
Recorder
Dolphin Timing Operator
Referee
Swimming NSW offers online courses for each technical official duty.
